This Privacy Policy explains how Your Style Edit ("Your Style Edit", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal data when you visit yourstyleedit.com (the "Site"), book or receive our virtual styling services, or otherwise communicate with us (together, the "Services"). 1) Who we are (Data Controller)

The personal data we collect depends on how you interact with us.
a) Data you provide directly
- Identity & contact – name, email, phone number, postal address.
- Booking & questionnaires – responses to our booking and style forms (e.g., style goals, sizing, preferred fits, brands, budgets, event/travel dates) and any files or photos you choose to share.
- Communications – messages you send by email, WhatsApp, Instagram DM, website forms, or phone notes.
- Account data (if applicable) – usernames, passwords, and security details you create.
If you do not provide information we mark as required (for example, contact details or key questionnaire responses), we may be unable to deliver the Services.
We do not seek special category data (e.g., health information). Please avoid including such details unless strictly necessary for your request.
b) Data collected automatically
When you browse the Site, we and our service providers collect certain information automatically using cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies below): IP address, device and browser type, time zone, pages viewed, referral URLs, and your interactions with our Site.
c) Data from third parties
- Payment providers – Stripe and PayPal share payment status/confirmation (we do not receive or store your full card details).
- Website & marketing providers – Shopify (hosting), Google Analytics, Meta (for ads), MailerLite (email), Tally (forms) may provide analytics or operational data generated by your use of our Services.
4) Why we use your data and our legal bases
We process personal data only when we have a lawful basis under UK GDPR. The purposes and legal bases are:

6) Who we share data with

- Stripe and PayPal (payment processing – independent controllers of your payment instrument details)
- Tally (forms)
- MailerLite (email marketing)
- Google (Analytics) and Meta (advertising tools), when enabled
- WhatsApp/Meta and Google Workspace/Drive (communications and file storage)
We only share what is necessary and require processors to protect your data. We may also disclose data: (i) to professional advisers, (ii) if required by law or to protect rights, or (iii) in connection with a business restructuring. We do not sell your personal data.
7) International transfers
Some providers are located outside the UK/EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on approved safeguards (e.g., adequacy regulations or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.
8) Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above:
- Client project files and questionnaires: normally 24 months after last activity, to provide aftercare and repeat services.
- Emails and routine communications: up to 24 months after last contact, unless needed longer for a live matter.
- Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe or your consent is withdrawn; we retain minimal suppression data to honour opt‑outs.
- Financial/tax records (invoices, payment confirmations): at least 6 years to comply with UK requirements.
We may retain data longer where required by law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
9) Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including access controls, encryption in transit, least‑privilege access, and periodic review of accounts and sharing links. No method is 100% secure; if you suspect unauthorised access to your data, contact us immediately.
